Are you annoyed of tooltip. you can disable it following the given simple steps

  1. Right-clicking on an empty area of the task bar
  2. Select "Task Manager Settings"
  3. Disabling “show tooltips”
  4. Select OK

That's it !! now  it won't show any more.

That got rid of the tooltips on the Task Manager, but not on the panel's other widgets (e.g. I can get an Application launcher tooltip like the one shown). Any other advice? I'm using KDE 4.8.0.

I found a fix:

System Settings-> Workspace Behavior->Workspace->uncheck "Show Informational Tips"

Hi, our podcast (Sunday Morning Linux Review) show notes (episode 26) contains instructions for turning off KDE tooltips (v4.8.1). My apologies for the plain look of the notes but if you do a page search for: KDE Tooltips, you should go right to them. I just discovered the little-used KDE info center's were missed and they are still on!! awrk!!!

Thank you so much Mr "Unknown". These have been annoying me for months (I read elsewhere that it was impossible to disable them.)
